Scopus guide

Scopus is a multidisciplinary database and so useful for most researchers. this guide will show you how to use it to find the information you are looking for.

Document metrics

To see the metrics of a particular document, click on the title of the document and then choose view all metrics from below the authors' names. If you then click on more metrics you will be taken to another page where you can look in more detail at which documents have cited this article. 

PlumX metrics offer insights into the various ways individuals engage with research online. Click on View PlumX details to see more information about who has been talking about that document. PlumX metrics are measured in these categories:

  • Citations: encompasses both traditional citation indexes, such as Scopus, and citations that reflect societal impact, including clinical, patent, or policy-related citations.
  • Usage: the frequency with which individuals are reading an article or utilizing the research. 
  • Captures: a capture signifies that an individual intends to revisit the work and so is seen as a potential indicator of future citations.
  • Mentions: reflects the document being mentioned by others e.g. news articles or blog posts.
  • Social media: activity involving social media e.g. likes and mentions.
