Using Mendeley Reference Manager with LaTeX

  1. In Mendeley Reference Manager (Web), navigate to the desired folder and select your references 
  2. Click on the Export button located at the bottom of the screen and select BibTeX(.bib) from the drop-down menu 
  3. The file will download authomatically. If not, you will be prompted to select the location to save your file

Save the generated file in the same folder as your LaTeX document.

If you are using Overleaf, go to your project and click on the Upload button, then select the .bib file to add. You can rename it at any point, but ensure that the file is saved with extension .bib.

You can add references from your existing BibTeX file into your Mendeley account. 

  1. Log in to your Mendeley Reference Manager (Web), and click +Add New button located at the top left corner of the screen
  2. Select the Import file(s) from computer option from the drop-down menu
  3. Find your saved .bib file on your computer and hit Open
  4. Once the upload is finished you will see a confirmation box with a summary information listing the number of generated references and any potential duplicates created

Review the newly imported collection to ensure all references have been added correctly.

The Overleaf Integration feature is available to Imperial students and staff as part of the Overleaf Professional subscription. Ensure that your Overleaf account is linked to your Imperial email.

  1. Open Overleaf, go to Account Settings and scroll down to Mendeley Integration
  2. Click Link to Mendeley button and, when prompted, log in to your Mendeley online account
  3. Click Proceed to carry on and you will be redirected back to Overleaf 
  4. The integration setting should now display as linked

5. To unlink the applications, click Unlink Zotero
