Accessing Full Text Articles for NHS users

Accessing full-text items directly using LibKey Nomad

LibKey Nomad is a browser extension that allows you to access full-text articles as you browse the internet with just one click. By installing LibKey Nomad into your web browser, you can get hold of articles from open, non-paywalled sources such as PubMed, and our collection, without the need to keep logging in.

You can also install it onto your own personal PC, laptop or device and make use of it from anywhere.

  1. Go to the LibKey Nomad download page
  2. Select your browser – the browsers that LibKey Nomad is available to use with are Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, Vivaldi and Brave
  3. Once installed, go to the Extensions button in your browser – this should be an icon in the shape of a jigsaw piece on the toolbar
  4. Open LibKey Nomad and select your NHS organisation to link up to the collections and subscriptions you have access to

Once you’ve installed LibKey Nomad and linked up to your organisation, an icon will appear in the bottom-left hand corner of your browser when you find a journal article. If this says ‘Download PDF’ or ‘Article Link’, you can simply click on it to instantly link through to, or download the article.

If the icon says ‘Access Options’, this is an article that isn’t accessible in full text. But, clicking on it will open a form that allows you to submit a document delivery request to us, where we will then try and find a copy of the article for you.
